SUMMARY:The Power of You(th): Rewriting the Story of Professionalism for the Next Generation of Leaders
DESCRIPTION:Emma Guidry is the Training & Organizational Development Specialist in the Office of Human Resource Management at LSU. She also currently serves on the Board of Directors of ATD Baton Rouge as the Vice President of Hospitality. Emma is a proud alumni of LSU\, from which she received a Master's degree in Leadership and Human Resource Development and a Graduate Certificate in Workforce Development\, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Leadership Development\, Communication Studies\, and Sociology. She is proud to have received her degrees at ages 21 and 20\, respectively. She is a born and raised Louisianian whose mission in life is to help the people around her get 1% better every day and ultimately leave them better than she found them.\n\n\n\nSession Description: For many young professionals\, entering the workplace can feel like stepping into a story where everyone else already knows the script. In an effort to prove they belong\, early-career employees may over-filter themselves\, rely on corporate jargon\, or hide behind those around them to appear more credible and experienced\, or disappear entirely. This session explores how fear\, imposter syndrome\, and traditional ideas of professionalism can unintentionally silence emerging talent\; and how authenticity\, clarity\, and human connection can become powerful leadership strengths instead. Attendees will leave with practical strategies to engage in more authentic communication\, empower early-career professionals\, and create workplace cultures where fresh perspectives help shape the future story of work.
