DESCRIPTION:HISTORY\n\nIn 1969\, a group of parents dedicated to excellence in education founded the "Alexandria Academy." With 98 students in Grades 1-8\, the school spent two years in Pineville. In 1971\, the school officially changed its name to Alexandria Country Day School and moved to its current location at 5603 Bayou Rapides Road. At the time\, the entire school was housed in one building. The school expanded\, with four buildings of classrooms ranging from Pre-K3 to Eighth Grade\, an updated gymnasium\, tennis courts\, an outdoor classroom\, a beautiful playground\, a dining hall\, and a media center that houses our technology lab and library for students in grades PreK-8.\n\nIn late 2020\, the Country Day Board of Trustees made the decision to merge with University Academy\, housed on the LSU Alexandria Campus. This innovative early college program allows high school students to attend LSU Alexandria\, earning an Associate's Degree along with their High School Diploma. This creates a complete PreK-12 educational model that offers students the ability to begin their college careers with support and guidance.\n\nThrough the changes and growth over 53 years\, Country Day has remained committed to its original vision- to be the premier independent school of Louisiana\, which offers educational excellence to inspire lifelong success for every child.\n\nMISSION\n\nCountry Day's Mission is to provide a challenging learning culture where all students can become creative\, innovative\, future leaders.
